Privacy Policy
Last updated June 22, 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains how Femfounded ("Femfounded," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit femfounded.org (the "Site") or subscribe to our newsletter. We have tried to write it in plain language. The short version: we collect very little, we use it only to run the Site and send the emails you ask for, and we never sell it.
By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. The only personal information we ask for is your email address, and only if you choose to subscribe to our newsletter. If you email us, we also receive whatever information you include in your message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect limited technical information when you visit, through our analytics tool: the pages you view, the approximate location (such as country or region) derived from your IP address, the type of device and browser you use, and the site or link that referred you. We use this in aggregate to understand which content is useful.
Cookies and similar technologies. See the Cookies section below.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (such as health, financial account, or government ID information), and we ask that you not send it to us.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- send you the newsletter you subscribed to;
- understand how the Site is used so we can improve our content and design;
- respond to your questions and messages;
- maintain the security and integrity of the Site; and
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
3. Legal bases for processing
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we process your information on the following bases: your consent (for example, when you subscribe to the newsletter, which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Site; and compliance with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the Site (see Third-party services below). They process information only on our behalf and only to provide their service.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.
- Business transfers. If Femfounded is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third-party providers to run the Site:
- Flodesk stores newsletter subscriber email addresses and delivers our emails. See Flodesk's privacy policy for how they handle data.
- Matomo provides our website analytics. We run it in a privacy-conscious configuration and do not use it to identify you personally.
6. Cookies and tracking
We keep cookies to a minimum. Our analytics may set a cookie to distinguish repeat visits, and our email provider may set a cookie when you interact with a signup form. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; the Site will continue to work without them. We also honor "Do Not Track" signals where our tools support them.
7. Data retention
We keep newsletter subscriber information for as long as you remain subscribed, and we remove it after you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Analytics data is retained only as long as needed to understand site trends. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to handle your request.
8. Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold, and we work with reputable providers that maintain industry-standard safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International visitors
The Site is operated for a global audience, and the providers we use may process and store information in countries other than your own. By using the Site, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Under the GDPR and similar laws, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Under California law (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information.
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any email. To exercise any other right, email us at [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time.
11. Children's privacy
Femfounded is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Third-party links
The Site links to other websites and resources we do not control. This policy does not apply to those sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here, and your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your information, email [email protected].
